Improving the quality of your life…

Hypnotherapy is a process that helps clients enter into a deeply relaxing inner peace, often referred to as a trance. Trance states are naturally occurring, that most people go in and out of during the day completely unaware, (i.e. daydreaming). However, from a clinical hypnotherapy remit, trance is the door way into communicating with the unconscious mind and that is where long lasting change is undertaken and achieved.

Previously suppressed emotional problems and the poor coping strategies involved (from nail biting to phobias), can be resolved here, as clinical hypnotherapy deals with these issues at the source and provides new meaning and quality to life, in a fraction of time, unlike other therapies.

Conscious mind = 10%

  • Critical thinking
  • Logical thinking
  • Short-term memory
  • Willpower

The conscious mind tries to use willpower to control behaviours, habits and beliefs but loses out to the subconscious mind’s greater influence.

Subconscious mind = 90%

  • Beliefs
  • Creativity
  • Developmental stages
  • Emotions & feelings
  • Habits & addictions
  • Imagination
  • Intuition
  • Long-term memory
  • Protective reactions
  • Values

Hypnosis uses this part of the mind for change

What motivates me

I enjoy using all my skills to help people change their lives for the better. For me that is the most amazing feeling, going to work to inspire others, and help them build their future

For many ‘getting it wrong’ is a bad thing., not in my book., things that people view as a mistake in life can also be the thing that liberates them into the most amazing future…

This fascination in life has motivated me to want to work with people who want a better, safer and more purposeful life…

FAQs

What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is the name given to the process that takes the patient’s focus of attention into their internal world. In other words, from an alert state of consciousness into a deeply relaxed internal state of mind also known as a trance.

What is a trance?

This is ‘the’ state of focused inner awareness.

Does hypnotherapy work?

The process begins by generating deep relaxation, which takes the patient into trance. A trance state is the door way into which a clinical hypnotherapist communicates directly with the unconscious mind; which is where long lasting effective change takes place.

Is hypnosis cure to all things?

As with all things in life nothing can be guaranteed. Hypnosis is an amazingly effective process, severely underutilised in general. It is not, however, a cure for everything and I would always recommend someone with a medical condition to combine hypnosis with conventional medicines and remedies with the GPs awareness and agreement.

Can anyone be hypnotised?

Yes; all hypnosis is, a state of focus and attention that actually occurs naturally just like when we day dream.

Will I lose control?

No. You will never give up control of your own mind or ever be asked to.

Is hypnosis dangerous?

There is no evidence of there ever having been a detrimental outcome from hypnosis. An important consideration is that after a hypnosis session the patient can be very relaxed and maybe slightly disorientated, so it is important to make them aware of their surroundings and re-orientate them back gently before leaving the practice, just in the same way, this is no different than ensuring we do not drive or operate machinery when we sleepy.

How does hypnosis feel?

Hypnosis is deeply relaxing. The whole process is natural state of mind. Breathing slows down and as a result, all of your muscles become deeply relaxed and often you feel a pleasant, almost euphoric state of peace; for many a welcome release from anxiety, worry and other negative emotions.

Can you be hypnotised against your will?

No. You need to be willing and open to the idea of hypnosis. The level and depth of the hypnotic trance will depend on your willingness to ‘let go’ and the trust you have with the Clinical Hypnotherapist you have engaged with.

Will I remember the session?

On a conscious level yes.

How long is each session?

That depends on the treatment however, each session is usually an hour to an hour and a half.

How many sessions will I need?

There are never guarantees as every issue is different and every client is different – so treatment plans are bespoke. Usually patients notice considerable improvements very quickly even if the problem has been longstanding. After your initial consultation, we will discuss your requirements, and agree a plan including sessions. As a guide I recommend a minimum of three sessions which is great for weight loss as it really compounds and re enforces those old habits and emotional eating behaviours. In contrast stopping smoking can take two sessions.

Why do I need to do hypnotherapy homework (aka self-hypnosis)?

Self-hypnosis forms part of the treatment as it is a reinforcement to your 1-2 bespoke sessions. The more you engage the more successful you will be. Self-hypnosis will be in electronic form and a recording for you to listen to.
